Setting up
E-mail account for the first time
1. Start Mozilla Thunderbird.
2.
Under New Account Setup please
select Email Account.
3. Click Next.

4. You will be brought to New Account Setup.
5. Fill in the Your Name field.
6. Fill in the Email Address field to either netid@andromeda.rutgers.edu or netid@pegasus.rutgers.edu.
7. Click Next.

8. Under Server Information please select IMAP or POP3
*Note: With the IMAP setting email is kept on server, there is no need to download all email when using another computer to check your email. With the POP3 setting email you need to download all of your e-mail again when using another computer. May cause problems if you’re checking your e-mail from multiple locations |
9. Please fill in the Incoming and Outgoing server to andromeda.rutgers.edu or pegasus.rutgers.edu
10. Click Next

11. Please type in your NetID in the Incoming User Name field.
12. Click Next.

13. Fill in the Account Name field.
14. Click Next.

15. Review the Information.
16. Click Finish.

17. Select Tools and Accounts Settings.
18. Under Account Settings please select Server Settings.
19. Please change the Port to 993.
20. Select SSL under Security Settings.
21. Click Ok.

22. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the panel on the left.

23. Click on the Add button
24. Put andromeda.rutgers.edu or pegasus.rutgers.edu in the Server Name box.

25. Make sure TLS if available is checked and the User name and password selection is checked as shown above.
26. Click OK.
27. Restart Thunderbird.
