Connecting to Windows SSH for the First Time

SSH Secure Shell for Windows (ssh2 client) replaces other, insecure terminal applications, such as Telnet and FTP. It allows you to securely login to remote host computers, to execute commands safely on a remote computer, and to provide secure encrypted and authenticated communications between two hosts in an untrusted network

Click here to download the Windows SSH client.

Enter your NetID and password on the screen you see after you click the link above. When the page comes up with lists of software, select "Search Software" in the upper menu, and enter SSH in the Search box. You will be presented with a list of software choices. Select "Secure Shell and FTP Client".

1. Start SSH Secure Shell. Click the Quick Connect button.

2. Set the Connect to Remote Host setting to the following and then click OK

3. You will receive the Host Identification dialog box if this is your first time connecting to the host computer. Click Yes to continue.

4. Click OK

5. Enter your password.

6. The following window will return if you have successfully connected to the remote host.
